Welcome to EMS Science

Helpful Links for the classroom and home:
Hello, everyone! I can't believe this is my 20th year at EMS. Last year, I had the opportunity to teach with our EL specialist, Katie Bull. She and I worked a great deal on expanding our use of academic language in the classroom; that, paired with a new Amplify science curriculum reminded me what it felt like to learn new things! I am excited to share more of what we worked on with our students this year.
I grew up in Lewiston, Idaho, and attended School at the University of Idaho. (Go, Vandals!) It was there that I received my BA in Ed. I then moved to Oregon and obtained Masters and Administration license from Pacific and PSU, and was offered a job at EMS. The rest is history (and Science of course!)
My wife, Kristy, is also a teacher in the district who works on special projects at EMS and in a few other schools. She will be in my classroom this year from time to time helping out. Kristy and I have a son, Henry, who attends a special school in Forest Grove - he is autistic and keeps us quite busy when we aren't at school. But we have a lot of fun doing things we like; running, playing outside at every park around, and trips to the beach when the weather allows.
I'm really looking forward to a fun an exciting year In science!
